Into the desert and back – Hello Coachella!

I went to the Coachella Music and Arts Festival for the first time this year. The only thing I have to compare this to in terms of a 3 day festival is Glastonbury, and this was basically Glasto in the desert and shuttles. And instead of staying in a tent with bad weather like I did for Glastonbury, I was able to stay in a hotel with air con and take a shuttle to the festival everyday. The heat condition on weekend  2 this year was pretty unbelievable. I don’t think I’d ever experience that amount of heat to listen to music but it was a ton of fun. There were times during the day where the heat was so blistering I couldn’t even focus anymore. I didn’t shoot Coachella with my slr but I brought my point and shoot along for the experience. The highlight of the festival this year was definitely Radiohead. They played a 2 hour set and it blew my mind.

Here are some of my photos from the weekend (click more to view). Enjoy Continue reading “Into the desert and back – Hello Coachella!”

descendant | my grandpa

I recently went back to Taiwan to visit my Grandpa, whom I love dearly. From when I was little, I had always known him as a strong man. He played sports till quite an old age, enjoyed mah-jong with his friends, and always had something to laugh about. While he doesn’t play sports or mah-jong anymore, he still enjoyed calligraphy and reading the paper. My grandpa has such beautiful writing. I shot some video while I was back which I’m still figuring out how to piece together in a video program, which I hope to share soon. Seeing him smile and write seems not so long ago, and yet today I found out that my grandpa had a stroke and could possibly have lost function on the left side of his body. I am greatly saddened by this news and pray for his health, but also I feel truly blessed and lucky that I was able to see him before his happened and share laughs with him. He is still in hospital now and to anyone reading, please pray for my grandpa and recovery. Here are some photos from my last visit with him. He wrote some beautiful calligraphy on paper for me which I hope to hang on my wall soon. I miss him so much.

What to Wear During Your Engagement Photo Shoot – Brides.com Feature

I got my first feature in today’s Brides.com blog. Heather, the editor, had found my blog for Kim and Cass’ engagement feature and contacted me about doing a piece about engagement sessions. I think its a great article because I always send out a note to my clients about what to wear and bring for the session so now I have this to send them too! I think I will do a post about what to wear for portrait sessions too, stay tuned 🙂 In the meantime, check out the feature on Brides.com!
