Journey | Hello from London

I’ve been back in London for a week now and while the weather has sometimes been bad and sometimes great, I’ve really missed this place. We’ve had rainy days and then we’ve had the most spectacular sunshine days with epic clouds all over the sky. I can’t stop looking at the sky when I’m walking (quite dangerous really). The streets are busy as ever, the people are crazy as ever, and meeting people from all walks of life has been lovely. It’s still, of course, as expensive as ever. The amount I’ve spent in a week traveling and eating is about how much I spend in a month in California!

It’s also been so great to see my friends here. They have collected so many stories to tell me over the [almost] 4 years I’ve been gone. A few friends went traveling around the world, got kidnapped in South America, went to music festivals in Prague, and some of settled down in London and bought apartments. I am so lucky to have the friends that I have here. They are all so supportive and have given me some of the best laughs. Everyone has been quite supportive about my photography so that has definitely pushed me forward in motivation to continue with my work. It would be amazing to move back to London and get a loft studio here but I just don’t know if I could afford it. But that is ultimately the goal, somewhere in LA, SF, NY or London.

I’ve arranged and shot one shoot so far in London. We shot at the park and I was contacted by an amazing dress designer who custom made a dress for our shoot. It was really beautiful. I shot with two models that were lovely to work with, and I’ve love to work with them again at some point. The makeup artist was great too, she created a really dramatic look that I wanted that was soft but “gaga”. I’d planned for a sunny day shoot but it turned out to be overcast, cloudy, and sometimes drizzly. The girls had to model in high wind but they all did a brilliant job. <3 I’ll have the photos up soon… working on them now.

I’ve got a few more days in London before I head up north to the midlands. Then I’ll be back in London in a few weeks before I head off back to LA. Loving life right now!

Keith + Crystal : Engagement Session | laguna beach, ca

{Engagement Session} Keith + Crystal

Meet Keith and Crystal. I met Keith back in high school, a time when he preferred us to call him by his Japanese name, Koji. 10 years later, he met the Crystal and got engaged and I am so happy for him. They met at work and he even learned Mandarin for her. When we had our first meeting and she called him Keith instead of Koji, I knew he had grown up and wasn’t the guy I knew long ago.Ā  I was honored to be asked to take their photos for their wedding and we decided to do some engagement photos down in Laguna Beach.

One of the destinations they’d like to go for their honeymoon is Hawaii, so they decided to get into gear and shoot in Hawaiin outfits. Aren’t they so cute? We had a great day out, despite the manic traffic getting there. Once we hit the beach, the sun was quickly setting and the tide was coming in so we had to do a quick shoot by the water. The waves were huge that day and I even got drenched taking their photos.
